1. Product Buildup - one of the most common reason
2. styling hair without enough water
3. not distributing products properly, after product application
4. using too heavy or too light products
5. flash drying
6. using stylers that contain drying alcohol
7. not conditioning hair properly
8. damaged hair , hair still in transition phase
9. having too less or too much protein in hair
10. hard water buildup
11. scrunching rigorously
12. constantly touching hair while its drying
1. clarify your scalp & hair length, regularly. As clarifying shampoos are bit strong, so its better to use a deep conditioning mask post cleansing. If you have fine hair, skip leave in for styling to avoid weighing down of curls.
2. use chelate shampoo to get rid of hard water builup
3. if styling on damp hair then switch to styling curls on wet hair. you can also apply the leave in or/and curl cream on dripping wet hair, do plopping with cotton t-shirt to get rid off excess water and then apply gel or/and mousse.
4. if using conditioner, then keep it for bit longer. In case conditioner doesn't help moisture your hair, then use hair mask.
5. ensure to apply protein hair mask at least once a month or as per your hair requirement.
6. follow squish to condish technique for rinsing off condition.
7. comb your hair after each product application, except shampoo. DONT use styling comb for product distribution . Best to use a detangling comb.
8. use bond repair treatment , if you have damaged / chemically treated hair
9. ensure you balance out your washdays - moisture & protein both
10. experiment with the amount of stylers you use
11. keep spraying water while styling
12. keep a satin scarf on shoulder while drying the curls
13. use few drops of sealing oil after leave in/curl cream.
14. clip face framing curls while hair is drying, if that makes you constantly touch them
